During Packer week there is little news that is worth mentioning, but this guy was the nutter of all nutters, but a brilliant and talented one. That being said, he was the best at his game, and possibly the best there ever will be to play the game of Chess.

Interestingly, this was a guy that grew up basically breathing the game. He was a pure genius who could have done many great things if he would have channeled his talents and his obvious brilliance. The thing is with brilliance and genius a lot of the time there can be mental illness.

Watching this guy do the press conference with Jeremy Schaap back in 2005 you could see a shell of a 60 year old guy who never grew past the maturity of a 16 year old. Political views aside, he degraded jews while being a jew himself, he said 9-11 was deserved for the USA, and in general he hated difference in people.

This guy was a loon to the 5th degree, but he was probably the best Chess player of all-time, not to mention one of the top enigmas of all-time in the "sports/entertainment" arena.

RIP to the kid that became champion. The nutter he became is unfortunate.

An interesting tidbit is that there are 64 spaces on a chessboard, one for each of his years he lived. Coincidence, probably....... but maybe there is someone up there watching.

Chess was about the only thing in his life he handled well. He was completely out of his mind, as many are with off-the-charts IQs. When he openly celebrated the actions of 9/11, he was already dead as far as I was concerned. Tortured soul, and an anti-Semite in the class of few. No reason to dance on the dead, I guess - I hope he's finally found peace.

He was a master of the Sicilian defense and played his "Poisin Pawn" variation of the defense into world fame. The man was the best ever.
