I like a blended mix called Jamba Juice. Smiler

Why you shouldn't buy an Apple.....

They cost too much. Other than that you can do most things on an Apple that you can do on a PC. It's a personal preference.

Personnally I would rather have Redhat or SUSE. To me it has much of the same look and feel as Mac but you cant go wrong with the price.

Macs are great, but make sure that you can run the software that you want. For example, a lot of video games run on Windows and windows alone. As Henry has mentioned, they are making strides in this aspect, but I'd double check. Otherwise, they're great. Linux is great too, but has the same downfall w/ less 3rd party software support. If you're just using it for Internet and E-mail, you should have no worries. Otherwise, read up on which applications work and which don't.

Windows still has larger spyware/virus concerns, and it always will. I'm sure that they'll claim "Vista" will be more secure, but that's what they claimed about XP, and 2000 before that. However, if you want to have a rockin' gaming machine, I'm afraid you're running Windows.

You gotta be kiddin' me. Linux isn't even close to the look and feel of OSX. The average person can't even figure Linux out and the media suite that comes with OSX is outstanding. Don't get me wrong, I like Linux and open source but it is a geek OS, the average user will struggle.

Macs cost more because they are built better. The OS is secure unlike Windows, the different programs do not conflict with hardware and other software like Windows. It is incredibly easy to use and is gaining a huge edge in home media.

Simply put, there isn't a OS that can touch OSX and the hardware is well built. You get what you pay for. If you aren't a computer tinkerer or relatively competent in repair, get a Mac. You'll be as pleased as punch.

Don't keep thinking MACS are bullet-proof. They just aren't attacked like Windows.

I agree that they haven't been targeted as much but when you're running a Unix base it's going to be a hell of alot harder to crack a Mac and alot easier to patch permanently. Whether you like the Apple hardware or not, OSX is simply the best OS out there. I don't think you'll find too many tech journalists that would disagree with that statement.

The other thing that could be interesting is the rumbling of being able to run both Windows and OSX in dual boot on the new Intel hardware. You can already dual boot Linux and you can work directly with the Unix command prompt. The Windows/OSX dual boot is a interesting rumor but I highly doubt that Jobs and Gates would willing go that route without a huge shift in hardware sales. Gates is trying to build a new media suite to compete with iTunes. Good luck Bill, your company has never had nearly the ingenuity of Apple. Good copycat but that's about it.

Apples iLife and iWork suites are just stupid cool and even Microsoft Office for Mac is ten time more intuitative than the Windows version. Software has been growing continually for the past five years. Whatever popular games that are out there is a Mac version. With the new Intel structure, the ports will be even faster and easier.

The old adages of "no software" and "too expensive" are unwarranted. You can't put together a PC with the same components and power and have it cost considerably less than a Apple machine. Like I said, you get what you pay for.

Hell, I'm typing this on a HP laptop right now so I'm not a complete kool aid head but I absolutely love what Apple has done over the past 5-7 years. Next laptop will be a Macbook baby!

Isn't it interesting that I'm typing on a Titanium Powerbook G4 in my posts? LMAO!

I just want people to be aware of all sides of the debate. I agree Apple has done some wonderful things and hopefully more to come in the future.

Actually I havent in about a year. I used to see them on occasion when I worked at a university but now that I am in government IT I havent been able to. You wont like this but Mac's are verboten on our military network.

If the opportunity comes up I will take a look at one but I am not sure if I would spend the money on a Mac.

Yeah, Macs aren't going to make any huge progress in the business world, at least not in the forseeable future.

I know it sounds dumb but I wonder if the government work has anything to do with the fact that Gore brought in a bunch of Macs when he was in office and Bush and Co. gave a big contract to Microsoft?

A new conspiracy?! Big Grin

Nah dont think so. When I first started contractor for the government, DoD had starting moving from a Novell platform to 90% Microsoft. I am a Novell guy by trade so I was less than pleased but I have to go with what brings in my paycheck.
