I receive these messages when trying to connect to 'chat'

What is wrong here. Is it on my end? I am not having problems on other message board chat rooms.

That's probably it Tim. Good call. IE7 automatically is setup to block popups.

Hoophead, in your pop-up blocker settings please add timesfour.com to the "safe" or "allow" list. That will probably do it.

TTPF you apparantly did not read my second post in regards to flash(have active x)

------------
Still no go.

The site was already on the allow list. I also have google desktop popup blocker so I changed that to allow popups to no avail.

This is a newer laptop that I am using here. I also have a older pc that uses firefox and google popups and windows xp and I have no problems.

Hmmm.

Ok cool. So we've established that it's your "newer laptop" that's the issue.

Lemme guess? Vista?

I have no clue how the chat room will work with Vista / JAVA & FLASH. Google desktop?? YUK!!

Open your version of JAVA (In Control Panel) & be sure you are using Java 6. It has to be something simple unless Vista is blocking it some other way.

Try This JRE

I run a Vista machine and have gotten into Chat with no problems during last season on game days. I just checked again earlier today and got into chat. I did not have to tweak anything on Vista, I got into Chat the very first time I tried.

Perhaps your security settings are set higher than recommended I dunno

I tried Googling some of the error messages you were getting with "chat" and/or "java", and found other people getting these messages in various types of chat/java scenarios, but the advice they were given is a bit beyond me, but maybe someone who's on a higher level of tech could try that and see if any of it makes sense to them?

Not that Google is the problem but My Nephews computer had a major hissy when it came to google pop up blocker. After it was removed any pop up window was still blocked no matter what we tried, finally re-formatted the hard drive and all is well. I'm not a fan of toolbars of any kind.
