Getting Direct-TV installed tomorrow, so I called to confirm that everything was in order, they claim on my order sheet I did not order a DVR which I know for in fact I did, at time of original order they told me it would be free after $99 discount. Now they claim you are only entitled to the receiver or dvr (not both) for free since I took the HD receiver (H20) I would not be getting the DVR unless I want to pay for it, and if I want a DVR I must cancel my original order and re-order and reschedule everything all over again which may take a few weeks. Anybody w/ similar problems??
I also have a tenant who rents out my 1st floor apt. I may have them add hookups to her 2 tvs @ $4.99 each per month anyone know if they will do this in a different apt.? Also a hint if anyone is ordering D-TV I have heard they have a referral bonus of $100. each, if you have a friend who has D-TV and you give his name at time of placing order. One other thing regarding having a phone jack they say you only need one if you are going to order pay-per-view or other select channels. |

A phone jack is also required to initially activate TIVO service. Not sure if the same is true of DirecTV's new DVR service.
There are ways around that. You can use a serial cable and make your dialup connection via a PC with Internet access. |

I don't even know what kind of antenna I have, they installed it with the HD dish. It works great though I get all of the local Milwaukee Channels HD feeds. The pictures are brilliant.
If you are between Milwaukee and Madison I'm not sure which HD feeds you would be able to get, maybe both? I run the antenna through my DTV box, did a channel scan and it picked them all up and they are in the guide. |

I am in Columbus and have a hard time with the DirecTV antenna that they installed picking up the Madison channels. I am on a hill with no trees blocking any signals. We started with the "regular" hd antenna and I could get better reception with the rabbit ears hooked up inside the house. Then they brought out an antenna with power to it and I can get CBS, Fox, and PBS. Sometimes I can get NBC and hardly ever get ABC. After many conversations with DirecTV they basically said their antennas are good but not great and I should order a Trex antenna and just mount it on the base provided by them. It works out though, I did get lots of free programing for their antenna not being able to pick-up a decent signal. |
