Today is the first day I really got to sit down and spend some thime checking it out. As I haven't played anything like this before, I can tell that it's going to take a little while to get used to the controler - it's amazing how much you can control now. I got Call of Duty I and that is what I tried first, figured I would want to play that well before playing CODII which came with it. While the graphics are pretty impressive, I was getting frustrated at my lack of ability to control it well enough yet. I played a Marvel uper Heroes game that was pretty fun. It was definetly easier to learn as I had more control guided help pop up. Obviously I haven't played GTA before, but I tried Saints Row and that was really cool too. I know I haven't scratched the surface of what can be done, but what I have found so far was awesome. I bough all my games off of ebay so far as they seem to be way cheaper than buying them new. Gears of War should be here soon and I am psyched to check that out. I can definetly see the 360 taking away a lot of my internet time. It's crazy adiciting.

Sounds great.

You may have some controller issues with Gow. It takes awhile to get used to. Cover is your best friend. It also may take some time getting used to using the chainsaw attatched to your gun. This is a must learn move because nothing is quite as satisfying as sawing your enemy in half as blood squirts in your face.

If you can find a copy of F.E.A.R. for cheap, pick it up. To get full effect play by yourself in the dark. Seriously.

You do get the Blue Ray technology for that extra $200 so it might be worth it. XBOX will (or maybe they already do??) have the option to add the HD-DVD which I'm sure will make up the difference in price if you add that later.

I've seen the HD-DVD add on for purchase @ $200.

Yes, the 360 HD-DVD players is 199.99. Circuit City has a coupon for $40 off $199 now so you can get it for $159.99.

I still us the ol' PS2. I just wish Dead Rising was available for me. Frowner

Edge is right...nothing better than killing zombies. huntin

As for the HDTV issues, from what I understand...plasma TV's have a higher risk of burn-in than LCD TV's. Not sure why...I read it in a home theater magazine I bought a while ago.

Speaking of kids games, does anyone play the arcade games?

I tried out Cloning Clyde last week. It's actually a lot of fun and my daughter had a blast watching me play it. It's one of the few that I actually bought.

The "par" times on the levels are crazy. I never beat a par time as well as collecting everything.

We have downloaded several of the arcade games. Geometry Wars is fantastic. Bejewled, Frogger, Galaga and a few more I can't remember.

Has anyone ever played a legit game of Madden online? Every freggin team I play will run no huddle the whole game, never punts, uses Falcons/Titans/Eagles, glitch plays, etc. I don't mind losing but man I hate playing the glitch playing tools.

Oh and how could I forget the play action pass, run around bomb play to the wr running down the sideline. One of the biggest glitch plays in Madden history.

I won a play station 2 in a golf tourney this summer and then scored madden 06 for ten bucks.... Thumbs Up one of my biggest pleasures is playing the Vikings... a favorite play is ( I formation ) running sweep left, just watching Henderson crush Smoot makes me feel like I'm fifteen years old again . waaaahoooo Headbanger I always get 5 or more yards on that play, if I hit the spin move against Sharper at the rite tyme its 6 points for the good side... Thumbs Up

I noticed a lot of people play Marble Blast Ultra online. I tried it out the other day and it's actually pretty fun. They don't give you too many levels to play for free, though.

I got the hd-dvd player the other day at circuit city for $160+tax. Great item. There is no HDMI but it still has an unbelievable picture, for about 1/4 the cost of a standalone hd dvd player.

I am about half way through Gears of War so I downloaded the Call of Duty 2 demo and I have to say even though it is not as polished as GOW, I find the WWII characters and story much more interesting. The underground monster blasting is getting a little old.

I assume COD 3 will be an upgrade, I'll probably make that my next purchase.

I have 1600 MS points to burn. What do you guys recommend? I got them for free from Worst Buy when I bought my XBox live membership.

If you want to get into some old school death match, get DOOM.

For a fun arcade style game, Cloning Clyde or Marble Blast Ultra.

All of these games you can download free to try them out. You just can't play them vs. other people and the number of levels is usually limited.

How much and what do you guys play online?

I don't have a ton of time to play Xbox and wondered if I could go without the Xbox Live membership for a while?

Mostly my son (12) plays online, it's great for sports games as an alternative to playing against the AI. Other games like COD it's fun to play in co-op mode. I think for $50 a year, XBOX Live Gold is a steal.
