Is there a huge difference between playing the 360 on an SD versus an HD?

I'm like Chuck Cecil. I haven't had a game system since the Sega Genesis.
Should I buy the PS3 or the XBOX 360? The only reason I'm even considering getting one is for the High Def graphics. |

I would probably go with the 360. I think in the end it all comes down to games, and the 360 has all of the titles now and for the forseeable future. Sure, the PS3 could catch up in a year, but it is not guarenteed. Another big thing is XBox live versus PS's online cababilities. Sony is way, way behind in this aspect. It is not even close. There are going to be a lot of growing pains, and I'm confident in saying even when Sony can get all of the bugs out, it still won't compare to Live. Lastly, I think you are paying a lot of money for the PS3 just for the fact that it has Blu Ray. I don't like this. A lot needs to happen before the Blu Ray vs HD DVD battle settles itself. Personally, I think Blu Ray is going to be the new Betamax. A lot of similarities. I'm calling it now. I like the fact that you can buy an HD DVD player for my 360 if I choose to, and am not forced to like with the PS3 BluRay. I've never played a PS3. I'm sure it is a fun system, but there are just no games out there for it yet. I've read a lot of reviews, and it seems as if the 360 is getting the nod in almost all of them. Mine decision came down to games and 'bang for my buck'. Right now the 360 has both of those. |

Get a Wii and toss the remote through the screen of your 70" TV. CC, I haven't tried the 360 in SD so I don't know the difference. |

I have a 360 premium with all the goodies. I would definitely go with it over Sony. Like Edge said, games and online are great. I dont do much with it online but from what I have used, and from what I have seen with friends its pretty awesome.

Yes. It's the same service. The 360 just uses an emulator for backwards compatibility. There's about 300 XBOX games that work on the 360. |

So for an SD TV, how much of an improvement is the 360 over the regular XBox? Is it just the newer games or are the graphics/features a big enough improvement over the previous version?
I haven't had a system in a long time, so I think I can entertain myself for a while on the regular XBox games and one of my goals is to pickup Madden so I can play against my brothers. I can pick a used one up for about $100, but am wondering if I would regret it soon after. It'll probably be a while until I upgrade to an HD, but if it offers enough on the SD I may do it. Thoughts? |

There is still a big differnce, I think.
I've never played the 360 on SD, but you can just tell the graphics are going to be better than the XBox. I'm sure you won't get to experience all of the intracacies of an HDTV feed, but you will be able to tell the difference. Also, I think the 360 has only scratched the surface in terms of gameplay. It really comes down to what you want. The XBox can be had for a great deal right now. If you can be happy with it, go for it. |

I decided not to be a 'Henry' and got the 360. I haven't even played a 360 game on it, only regular XBox until next weekend. The thing is amazing. I definetly won't regret jumping in. I can hardly imagine how cool it must be in HD.

I have recently gotten the Wii and I love it. Its very fun. Really has changed the way games are being played. Best part, for me anyway, is that I can play Gamecube games on it, and, I'll also be able to play NES, N64, and SNES games. SNES was probably my favorite system.

I've played both SONY on-line and X-Box, I noticed no difference in fact I boxed up my X-box and still play my PS2 on-line almost every night, I cancelled my X-Box live 5 months before it expired and Microsoft offered me free games to continue and I didn't feel it was worth it. Anyone remember Halo 2 was suppose to bring and end to SONY?
As for 360 verses PS3 only time will tell but so far PS3 sounds better but 360 is available. I myself will not buy either for a long time. I'd pick up and X-box or PS2, find a used game store and get a lot of bang for my buck. You might even try a Gamecube, great system and great games. |

I have the opposite opinion. XBox live blows the Sony online system out of the water. I've never been a fan of Microsoft products but they did their online gaming system right, especially when combined with the 360.

You haven't tossed the remote through a window or anything yet? I actually downloaded DOOM on the 360 a couple of weeks ago. People still play it online! I feel like I'm a 30 year old kid again. |

Do you play the Zelda games? I got the Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess for the Gamecube for Christmas and I'm loving it. Zelda rocks! |

Yes! I've been playing it for the past week. So much fun. what makes the wii games more enjoyable is when you play it while you're drunk, or so I have figured out |

How far have you gotten? I'm currently in the Goron Mines and getting totally lost! I'm trying not to cheat and use a walkthrough, but I'm having trouble navigating from room to room and remembering how to get from place to place. The map isn't helping me much for some reason..lol |

You'll see when you get there. It's two stories but there are rooms where you can walk on magnetic walls and ceilings with your iron boots and it gets hard keeping track of how to get from place to place. It's probably just me, I don't play very many games so I'm easily confused! lol |

Depends what you are into. I don't think you can go wrong with: Gears of War F.E.A.R. Call of Duty (2 or 3) Lego Star Wars II Madden is alright, but they really stripped down some of the features in '07. I have a feeling '08 is going to be a lot better, but that doesn't help you right now. |

Quake 4 was a lot of fun and it's probably old enough to be pretty cheap now. Gears Of War is awesome. |
