I know this is getting seriously geekish but thought I'd float it out in the event we have some X4 members heavy into IT and software deployment.

I'm looking at creating a custom Windows XP install CD (unattended install) so when I install XP, in addition to having most of the updates already on it, it may also have profiles set up, overall environment set up, and, in a perfect world, would also load and set up applications like Office and stuff (may require putting this all on a DVD).

I've found plenty of information and am still wading through it. I've slipstreamed updates to get the CD current through August. I've done some things involving add-ons, which will auto install some programs like Acrobat Reader, Ad-Aware, and Spybot. Still trying to find information on auto installing and configuring an application like Office.

Looking to see if anyone else has dabbled in this and what their successes or troubles may have been, as well as tool recommendations.

Thanks.
