I have an older version of the Koss KTX-Pro1 (KTX-PRO) and I love them. They sound great, they are cheap and comfortable. Not very "cool" looking, though.

Ipod IDOT here....... Actually, don't own any sort of MP3 player. I dunno

Don't they come with earphones? Or are better ones preferred for enhanced listening pleasure?

FinnLander, yes they all come with earphones. Some are more comfortable and some sound better than others. Most come with an "earbud" type. They fit in the ear - no band going over the head that holds the speakers. They are not very comfortable to me. Your ears do adjust to them and they do become more comfortable over time. They are usually the most practical for working out. I prefer the larger "DJ" style headphones like PH and FRZ have recomended. I think they are way more comfortable and the sound is much better in them. It's really about personal choice.

I use Philips foldables:

The image doesn't show that the ear pads fold back toward the neck brace.

I picked them up at Target but here's a site that shows them:

I know this topic is totally dead, but I just found it, anyway I work in the hearing industry and am working with a company called BigEar, they are a new company that is manufacturing customer headsets for use with any device with a 2.5mm jack. Ipods included. They are a little bit expensive, but wearing a pair makes it all worthwhile. They block out all background noise, and help preserve your hearing especially in comparison to an Earbud. If anyone is interested in one of these send me a PM or respond to this thread and I will get back to you with how you can get fitted with one. If you are interested in seeing them, you can go to www.bigearinc.com

I don't see anything on there about costs. What do they run? Are they the 'monitor earphones'? How do you get to try them out - do you have to meet up with them at one of the trade shows listed?

Chuck,
They are basically an in ear monitor, they also have one that they can build to be custom that you can actually slide your current earbud into, still blocking out all of the outside noise, the earbud compatible one is listed at $95.00 per pair, and the in ear monitors are listed at $299.95, however generally I think they have some leeway on that price probably get them for 10 percent less or so. They are such a new company that their website is not entirely up and running yet, however they plan on having dispensers of their products positioned all over the country, currently I think they only have one dispenser in Wisconsin and he is somewhere near Hudson, I think. He can build them for you anytime you need, there are several dispensers here in the twin cities, or you could become a dispenser yourself. They are doing a multi-level marketing business model with this and are looking to add people. The company did a soft launch of their products at the end of January and I really expect them to grow in leaps in bounds. If you are interested in any further information, let me know and I am sure I can provide you with anything you need.
