I have a dual boot system with XP pro/Vista x64. I had to reinstall XP pro, and now the dual boot is gone and I can't get to Vista which has my current stuff. HELP!

It sounds like your data is still there but your boot.ini file needs to be edited.

If I'm understanding you properly, your system is simply skipping the menu option to boot into Vista.

Hope that helps.

Do you do a sock and a sock and then a boot and a boot or do you do a sock and a boot and a sock and a boot, it's all very important. Big Grin wave3

The boot record files are completely different in Vista. I didn't get too far into it when I had it on my old laptop but it was no longer as simple as messing with the boot.ini file.

I think the Vista boot record needs to be the last boot record written to the hard drive in order to dual boot Vista.

VistaBootPro looks like something that could come in very handy in the near future. Smiler

That was the problem, VistaBootPRO let me modify the bootloader and reinstalled it, then everything worked fine.

Good info.

My Company will be moving to Vista in 2007, so that's helpful.

Thanks guys.
